Below are just a few of the many available content marketing resources. I’ve listed a few general sites and books, as well as content creation and curation tools. Some are free; others offer enterprise solutions.
General:
Content Marketing Institute (This is the mothership of content marketing.)
Hubspot Blog (All about inbound marketing.)
Marketing Profs Content Library (Ann Handley – see below – is Chief Content Officer here.)
Content Creation Tools:
Canva (DIY graphic design to create original, sharable images.)
easelly (Create and share visual ideas online.)
Piktochart (Infographic/graphic design app.)
Content Curation:
Alltop (Combination blog search engine and blog headline aggregator.)
Bundlepost (Aggregate and schedule social media content.)
feedly (News aggregator/feed reader that has become more popular since Google did away with Google Reader.)
MyCurator (WordPress content curation plugin.)
Netvibes (Free and paid versions of this dashboard/reader.)
Pocket (Save online articles to review/post later.)
Scoop.it (Free and paid version.)
Talkwalker (Google alerts alternative; some say more effective.)
Blog Topic Generators:
Portent’s Content Idea Generator – I like their version because it’s fun to use. Type in your subject and you’ll get a short, snappy title. Hit the refresh button as many times as you like and enjoy the comments along the way.
Hubspot’s Blog Topic Generator – Simply enter three topic keywords and you’re off and running! You’ll get a week’s worth of titles. (You will probably have to edit them for relevancy/grammar, but it’s a great for a kickstart.)
Books:
The Content Code – Mark W. Schaefer
Epic Content Marketing – Joe Pulizzi (Content Marketing Institute founder)
Youtility – Jay Baer
Your Brand: The Next Media Company – Michael Brito
Content Rules – Ann Handley, C.C. Chapman
If this isn’t enough, check out Scott Scanlon’s Ultimate List of Content Curation Tools and Platforms. (Warning: there are more than 50 – set aside some time!)
